Rainbow Probe

Rainbow Probe™ is an electro-optical device that measures surfaces without contact by analyzing changes in the optical spectrum as a function of part-to-probe spacing as it scans.

White light is emitted from the rainbow probe, reflected light from the part strikes a detector inside the probe. Shifts in the optical spectrum as a function of probe-to-surface spacing are output as data points as the probe scans a surface. The probe's small spot size enables Rainbow Probe to access small features, and its on-axis measuring technique allows it to measure recessed features that may not be accessible by other means.

Rainbow Probe is available as an option on SmartScope ZIP and SmartScope Flash systems.
